Here are the literacy, maths, coding & computing science tools she suggests for primary schools relatively new to edtech. These are all available either for free to schools or at a low cost online and can have a huge impact on learning from the get-go.

With TinyTap, teachers can quickly and easily create fun educational activities for any purpose and engage their students in something new. Educators around the world are creating valuable learning activities based on the school curriculum.
While Quizlet began as a simple online learning tool, today it offers pupils the opportunity to make flashcards, practice spelling, play learning games, test their knowledge, collaborate with other students and much more. You can help keep pupils engaged and motivated with Quizlet by creating your own classroom sets, sharing with other teachers and playing Quizlet Live.

ProdigyMaths – FREE to use
Prodigy, is an engaging online math game for pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2. Integrating learning and fun, Prodigy using role-playing. The student’s level is based on invisible assessments that occur in the background while they’re playing. As they play, question difficulty will either increase or decrease depending on their answers. Everything your pupils work on in Prodigy is reported back to you in real time so that you can quickly see which skills your students have mastered, and where they may need some additional support.

Powered by a tangible coding language, Cubetto is the perfect EYFS resource to teach coding without screens. Made of tactile and hard-wearing wood, he’s your pupil’s guide into the world of coding. Cubetto turns coding into a tangible, age-appropriate experience that reduces screen-time, increases engagement, and enhances learning.
The Barefoot Programme – FREE to use
Barefoot supports primary educators with the confidence, knowledge, skills and resources to teach computer science. Resources aligned to the curricular for all UK nations which includes free high-quality lesson plans and local CPD Workshops, all designed to help teachers gain confidence in bringing computer science to life in the classroom.
WeDo is a primary education resource developed for younger primary school pupils as an introduction to control technology and programming using robotics. It’s a fantastic, simple-to-use tool that enables pupils to learn by constructing their own models and bringing them to life. WeDo ticks national curriculum boxes and comes with a cross-curricular plug ‘n’ teach curriculum pack that improves communication, collaboration and team-building skills.
